My name is Margaret Holman and I grew up in a small village near Oxford, England.
Initially I trained and worked as a Registered General Nurse and then as an Early Year Advisor in a variety of roles.
These included the School Health Nursing team, establishing a baby unit at a new Day Care Centre, Deputy Manager of a Pre-school and Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant.
I trained as a Birth & Postpartum Doula with Nurturing Birth and DONA International and have had the privilege of supporting families during a unique and very special time in their lives. I am CAPPA trained Childbirth Educator and enjoy preparing families for the very special time in their lives.
Many of the families have stayed in touch and send me photos and updates.
I have experienced birth in two different countries: my son was born in England and my daugter in Ottawa, Canada. She is very
proud to call herself Canadian.
I feel it is essential to continue my professional development in order to support women through pregnancy, labour and during the postpartum period.
I was the Ottawa Representative for a non-profit organisation DoulaCARE www.doulacare.ca which provides Doula support, promotes the role of the Doula and offers networking and education opportunities to other Doulas.
I have attended a Waterbirth workshop with world renowed Barbara Harper from Waterbirth International
